The Liberty Proclaimer

Introduction: From Volume 1, Issue 1 Published 2001

We have entered a new decade, a new century, and a new millennium. Hopefully the world will be more peaceful, more honest, and wiser than it was in the past.  I am proud to announce that this paper is being printed to help to achieve peace, justice, and wisdom.

Its name, The Liberty Proclaimer, reflects the commandment of God that is engraved on our national symbol of freedom, the Liberty Bell: "Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." (Leviticus XXI)

One of the reasons for the creation of The Liberty Proclaimer is that the Glens Falls Post Star refused to print the following article, as it was "too educational."  Their September editorial entitled "Tyranny Team Should Be Educators" led me to believe that they thought that some of us knew something worthy of teaching, and I assumed that they would be glad to help us educate the general public.  With that hope, I went to see Mr. Tingley, Editor in Chief, and suggested that I could write some essays about our system of governance.  After some reticence, he agreed that if the essays were less than 1000 words, which was more than I expected, he would print them.  He also suggested that I not only write the history of our system but that I compare it with the present state of our government.  When I gave him my first essay regarding the Declaration of Independence and the Preamble of our Constitution, he told me that he would not print it because "it looked too much like education."

Needless to say, I was dismayed by his about-face.  Was it not what he suggested in his editorial and was it not what we agreed to?  Is the Post Star afraid to really educate its readers?   Why?  Should our constitutional system of governance be hidden from the people?  Why shouldn't its perversion be exposed?  Did some "politicos" get to them?

Whatever their reason, I must and did respect their decision because the paper belongs to them or their masters.  However, I would not give them a medal for upholding the principle of free expression and of a truly educational free press.

With these goals in mind, we present to you The Liberty Proclaimer.
